LINK Good Neighbours

What LINK do

LINK Good Neighbours work to reduce isolation and loneliness in older (over 50s) or isolated people and adults with long term health conditions and disabilities. We aim to do this by building networks of support to improve people’s quality of life and sense of wellbeing.

Our current activities include an exercise class, arts and crafts session,  trips out throughout the year and host various activities during the week. These include a lunch club, an, a computer class and a peer-support group focusing on mental health and wellbeing facilitated by a former NHS mental health nurse with years of experience.

All sessions are run on a drop-in basis and no booking is required, so if you are interested please feel free to come along and try out a session. Please feel free to enquire about any more details you’d wish to know.

LINK Weekly Activities

As well as the befriending service, LINK also run a range sessions and monthly coach trips to visit sites of interest across the region.

LINK Together - 11:00am till 2:00pm

As we grow older there are a number of reasons such as mobility problems, mental and physical health; lack of motivation, anxiety and depression why we can become more socially isolated. Don't let social isolation damage your mental and physical health; nearly half of over 55's suffer from anxiety and depression. Dont become one of them.

Come along to LINK Together and join our friendly group of likeminded, socially isolated people for a breakfast snack, a cuppa and some good company!

Every Monday - 11:00am till 2:00pm

LINK Exercise Club - 10:30am till 11:30am

Every Tuesday 10:30am till 11:30am

Only £1!

Seated or standing exercises for over 50's followed by a cuppa and a chat!

LINK Art Activities - 1:00pm till 3:00pm

Some people seem to be put off getting involved in art activities because they think they have to be experts. Well most of us coming to the art activities group at Trinity House have not been involved in art since we left school and nobody has ever accused us of being experts. We attend because we enjoy the company and enjoy having a go at art. What's more it's a fact that having a go at being creative helps us combat stress and improves out resistance to illness.

Every Wednesday - 1:00pm till 3:00pm

If you would like more information about any of the above activity sessions or day trips please contact us here at LINK or call us on 0161 225 1064 and ask for Christopher Connaughton or email info@trinityhousecrc.org.uk

Where we are

Want to volunteer with LINK?

LINK recruits volunteers to help people on an

individual basis, for example by:

  • Helping at LINK groups by starting conversations, making tea and coffee, helping to set up and clear away before and after sessions

  • Helping on trips out by pushing wheelchairs or lending an arm

  • Becoming a be-friender to visit people at home for a few weeks with a view to encouraging them to join with our activities.

The help we can give to people is dependent on the skills and abilities of our volunteers.

All volunteers are asked to give us details of the type of tasks they are prepared to undertake and if they have any special skills or talents; we want our volunteers to be capable of carrying out their tasks but also to get satisfaction from them.

For more information please contact Christopher Connaughton on 0161 225 1064 or info@trinityhousecrc.org.uk

If you would like to volunteer with LINK as a befriender or supporting the group sessions check out our vacancies page for more information.
